TALK-N-TAPAS MEETINGS HAVE STARTED UP AGAIN
GREAT TURN-OUT FOR TALK-N-TAPAS ON FEB 24th -
We had over 25 enthusiastic people at Sunday's meeting and enough delicious food and drinks for everyone. After about an hour of eating and drinking and getting a few things off our chest (which you can only do when you are among friends), we settled into a huge circle for a brain-storming session.
Chuck talked about the Washington County Democrats Annual Meeting which is coming up on March 23rd at 2:00 p.m. in the Fossil Ridge Intermediate School auditorium on Mall Drive. We will be electing new officers for the party including Chair, Vice-chair, Secretary and Treasurer. If you or anyone you know would like to be nominated for office, please contact Chuck. We need Democrats in many ways to help us with our projects - even some short one-time projects that come up will work for snowbirds, so let us know what areas you are interested in helping with.
During the discussion, we had so many great ideas and suggestions. We asked for ways to improve our communications for getting the word out to the entire county. Here are just a few ideas that were offered:
* If you can not get reporters to attend Democratic functions, just write the articles yourself and submit to The Spectrum, Facebook, our website and our email lists.
* In order to be visible to the community, join the Chamber of Commerce and attend meetings.
* Add our Democratic Party brochures and literature to the St George Information Center and Tourist boards.
* Begin a regular radio interview where Democratic viewpoints can be given. Chuck did a one-hour call-in show on Cherry Creek radio show with Andy Griffin (890 AM and 94.9 FM) last Friday. He has been asked to do a monthly show.
Some new people who just moved into the area were present and have been added to our lists. The next Talk-n-Tapas is scheduled for March 24th at 5:00 p.m. at the home of Sue & Ray Behle in Bloomington. Put this on your calendar and watch the website for more details - Demsut.com
