The fundraiser luncheon for luz robles was a great success!
Democrats held a $25 per plate fundraiser to support State Senator Luz Robles for re-election. The food at the Painted Pony restaurant was delicious as usual and the crowd was very enthusiastic.
She gave a very informative talk on current state issues:
PUBLIC LANDS: The debate over public lands being returned to the state is a losing proposition for the people of Utah. She emphasized that our primary source of economic income and growth is from Tourism. Any land development would most likely affect our clean water, clean air and beautiful vistas. This does not help us or education; it hurts our Tourism.
OBAMA CARE: Luz talked about the need for full implementation of the Affordable Care Act in Utah but had little confidence that it will be passed anytime soon. Governor Herbert originally had the decision-making authority concerning this Medicaid expansion (which is completely paid for by the federal government), but he has given that authority over to the Utah legislature. Luz commented that she has little hope for any action. She added that the people helped most by expanded Medicaid are the children. Why would we not want to help our children?
